About us

The Institute of Psychology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) is the only national research institute in psychology in China. The institute carries out a wide range of research in the following fields: comprehensive and systematic studies of the human mind, neural and genetic basis of basic psychological functions, individual and social aspects of human development through life-span. The Institute is committed to a broad mission of excellence in research to improve well being and mental health of Chinese people; to promote the economic, social, and harmonious development of China.

Our team is dedicated to complex disease study with one of research focuses on development of biological databases by large-scale data integration and data mining, and development of bioinformatics tools and web servers to facilitate researchers to analyze the genetic, genomic, epigenomic, expressional, and regulatory data of complex diseases. Recently, we mainly focus on the study of psychiatric disorders, including schizophrenia, major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. Our published disease related databases include Database of Human DNA Methylation and Cancer(MethyCancer, 2008), Genetic Database for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHDgene, 2011), multi-level knowledge base and analysis platform for major depressive disorder (MK4MDD, 2012), Genetic Database for Bipolar Disorder and Its Overlap With Schizophrenia and Major Depressive Disorder (BDgene, 2013). Our published web servers for disease genetic data analysis include WEGO (2006), i-GSEA4GWAS (2010) and ICSNPathway (2011).
